  • Q: How to Safely Service and Install an A/C Switch Control Assembly on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
    A: Passenger vehicles equipped with air bags should have the air bag system disabled first by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable and waiting at least two minutes for the capacitor to run down, to prevent an accidental deployment and possible danger. Because each generation or model line of vehicles has different controls, it's important to use only the one for that particular vehicle. Disconnect the negative battery cable and then remove the center bezel from the instrument panel to place it on a workbench. Following that, open the electronics fix panel and undo the screws holding the center controls to the bezel. First, put the A/C - heater control and the electronic vehicle information center control on the center bezel of the instrument panel, then tighten the screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). With the instrument panel closed, replace the center bezel, attach the negative battery cable and request an Actuator Calibration using a scanning tool.
