2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Window Regulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Window Regulator in the Front Door on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The first step to removing the front door window regulator is to remove the waterdam. To remove the glass lift plate, first pop out the clips attaching it with a flat blade or hook tool. Hold the up position by wedging the glass, using tape or something equal. Remove all of the bolts at the keyhole slots on the inner door panel, as well as the other bolts holding the regulator to the panel. Should your car have one, unplug the power window regulator harness connector. Use the switch to move the regulator upward and then pop out the bolts on the door panel; then remove the regulator by reaching up through the access hole. While installing, pass the regulator through the access hole and hook the bolts into the keyholes on the inner part of the door panel. Push the regulator wiring pigtail through the inner panel hole and attach it if one is present. Insert the bolt that holds the regulator to the inner door panel and hand-tighten it to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.). Take out the glass support, put the glass lift plate on top of the regulator lift plate and snap the clips together to secure them. In the end, place the waterdam at the back of the water spout.
