2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Front Wiper Arm on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Prior to service, release the tension on the wiper pivot shaft by lifting the front wiper arm to an over-center position. Insert the trim stick C-4755 or an equivalent into the plastic cap at the wiper arm pivot and pry the cap off. Pull out the nut that holds the wiper arm to the wiper pivot shaft. If you must separate the wiper arm from the wiper pivot shaft, use a suitable battery terminal puller. After detaching the washer button, go ahead and remove the front wiper arm. Be sure to turn on the ignition switch and then move the right multi-function control knob to Off before installing the wiper motor. With the wipers still, hit the ignition switch again to change it to the Off position. Put the motor in park and attach the wiper arms to the wiper shafts so their lower edges line up with the wiper alignment marks. Pull up on the wiper arm lightly and push the hole at the end of the wiper arm shaft down fully onto the wiper pivot shaft. Attach the nut that secures the wiper arm to the wiper pivot shaft and then tighten it to 22 N.m (16 ft.lbs.) Put water or washing liquid on the windscreen and run the wipers in the front, then turn them off and see if the wiper arms are set properly, adjusting as required. After that, set the plastic cap over the wiper arm pivot.
