2004 Jeep Liberty Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: The first step to servicing and repairing a tie rod end is to raise and support the car and then take off the tire and wheel assembly. Simply label the jam nuts on the tie rod end, so they are easier to fit during installation later. Drive out the tie rod end jam nut, then remove the rod end nut as well. Use tool C-3894-A to take apart the tie rod end and knuckle, observing and listing how many times you need to turn the nut. Attach the tie rod end directly to the rack using the number of turns that it went on in the first place, press it onto the knuckle and tighten the mount nut to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.). Set the jam nut to 76 Nm (55 ft. lbs.), put back the tire and wheel and correctly reset the toe along with centering the steering wheel.
