2005 Chrysler Crossfire Coil Springs Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair Coil Springs on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: To work on the rear coil spring, start by lifting the vehicle and supporting it and then take out the wheel and tire. After that, remove the bolts holding down the cover on the control arm and take out the bolts attached to the lower control arm's lower shock bolts. Secure the lower control arm at the rear suspension with the correct lifting device and rise it until the half shaft is lying on its side. Put a 9152 compressor plate onto the suspension bottom and 9150 spring compressors below the center strut to compress the rear spring. After that, colored technique, in this case, paints on the surface rather than filling in cracks; this won't stress the paint and can be easily repaired later without repainting. Lower the control arm to pull out the rear spring and take it off the vehicle. Place back the spring, raise the control arm and secure it to the frame with a bolt. Free the spring and fit it into place so the lower mount lines up with the spring perches and place and tighten the lower shock mount onto the lower control arm to 55 NM or 41 ft. lbs. After that, replace the cover and bolts on the control arm, fit the wheel and tire and make sure vehicle alignment is correct.
