2005 Chrysler Crossfire Exhaust Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair Exhaust Valve and Intake Valves on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Set the cylinder head on a bench after removing it to do the service and repairs to the intake and exhaust valves and valve seals. Bring the Special Tool C-3422-CF Valve Spring Compressor into place and squeeze the valve spring to remove the collets. Let go of the valve spring compressor and remove the valve retainer and the valve spring with its spacer. Remove the valve stem seal in Special Tool 9106 Valve Assembly Tool Case. Then, remove the valve from the cylinder head, checking the face and stem for wear, damage or nicks. If you find any, replace the valves. ALL your valves should be carefully cleaned and you should throw out any that are burned, warped or cracked. When installing, place the valve into the cylinder head and put the protective sleeve over the valve stem. Add lubricant to the valve stem seal before you begin and press it on the stem using Special Tool 9106 while taking off the protective sleeve. Lay down the valve spring spacer, spring and valve spring retainer over the valve stem in place. Hold the valve spring with Special Tool C-3422-CF and nail the collets into the spring. Delete each valve of this process until all valves are completed prior to putting in the cylinder head.
