2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an A/C Condenser on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First remove the negative battery cable and then gather refrigerant from the system's refrigerant part. Then, uninstall the battery support strut and the nut holding the A/C liquid line to the A/C condenser and disjoin the A/C liquid line to discard its sealing ring. After you plug or cover the open fitting and the condenser outlet port, remove the nut holding the A/C discharge line, unconnect the line and toss away the sealing ring. After that, make sure the condenser inlet port is taped or plugged up after plugging the fitting of the discharge line. After removing the upper radiator mounts and the retaining screws, tilt the radiator back to take out the A/C condenser from below the engine cover. When you install a new A/C condenser, inject 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of suitable refrigerant oil into the refrigerant system. Turn the radiator back, slide the A/C condenser inside the engine compartment and fix the A/C condenser to the radiator with 2 N.m (17 in.lbs.) of torque. Next, attach the two upper radiator mounts. Pull out the tape or plug from inside the condenser inlet and from the discharge line port, grease an approved O-ring with clean oil for R-134a and attach it to the discharge line fitting, making sure it's not the wrong type. Attach the A/C discharge line to the condenser, put on the nut and tighten it to 5 N.m (44 in.lbs.). Remove the tape or plug from the condenser outlet port and the liquid line fitting, add a tiny amount of refrigerant oil to a new O-ring and place the ring onto the liquid line fitting using the same O-ring you removed. Join the A/C liquid line to the A/C condenser and fix it with a nut, turning the nut until there is a torque of 5 N.m (44 in.lbs.). Then, fit in the battery support strut, attach the other battery cable, evacuate the inside of the A/C and charge the refrigerant again.
