2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service an Evaporator on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First, disconnect and isolate the negative (ground) battery cable on vehicles with air bags to prevent the air bag system from operating, then give the air bag capacitor two minutes to reset. You should follow the set precautions so that your air bag doesn't accidentally deploy, as it could lead to death or injury. Take away the HVAC housing and break it down to exposing the A/C evaporator. Be careful as you lift the A/C evaporator from the bottom half of the HVAC housing. If changing the evaporator, pour in 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of refrigerant oil to the system right after before installing the coil at the bottom end of the HVAC module. In the end, place and attach the HVAC housing.
