2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Hose in the HVAC Liquid Line on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: The first step to servicing or repairing the liquid line of an HVAC system is to recover the refrigerant from the unit. Break the nut at the lower end of the A/C line to the condenser and then extract the line and dump the O-ring shown. Put a plug over both the exposed liquid line and the condenser outlet. Next, remove the A/C liquid line nut from the accumulator tube tapping block, take the liquid line off and throw out the O-ring seal. Next, cover the opened inlet port and uncovered fitting with tape or plugs. Deconnect the A/C liquid line from the engine area. For installation, direct the A/C liquid line into the motor area and open or remove the tape or plugs at the liquid line fitting and the port on the accumulator tube tapping block. With a clean oil, grease the new rubber O-ring seal and fit it to the liquid line fitting according to the manufacturer's instructions. Latch the A/C liquid line to the accumulator tube and screw on the nut securely to 5 N.m (44 in.lbs.). Uncover the outdoor condenser outlet and the liquid line, cover a new rubber O-ring seal with oil, place it on the fittings and fasten everything back in place. Attach the nut and turn it tightly clockwise before it reaches 5 N.m (44 in.lbs.). Reinstall the negative battery wire, drain the refrigerant system and fill it up with refrigerant.
