- Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Door Handle on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?A: To handle repair and service for the front door handle, start by taking out the trim molding and water dam. In both coupe and convertible models, lift the door glass up before shutting the window. The outside door handle link on the latch no longer connects with part number 5 for the coupe and with part number 6 for the convertible. For both cars, take off the nut that joins the external door handle to the outer door panel; coupes should use number 5, convertibles number 5. Once you take the door handle from the vehicle, installation means linking the latch link to the handle, sliding the handle into the corresponding door spot and fastening its screws to the outer door panel. After that, link both rods to the latch and return the door trim panel and water dam to their original positions.
