2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Window Regulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Window Regulator in a Coupe or Convertible on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before taking out the front door window regulator in a coupe, eliminate the front door trim, then separate the glass from where it is attached to the regulator. Loose the screws that hold the channel and crank housing to the door frame, then remove the screw and bolt heads from the door panel by working them out of the keyhole slots. Slide the door panel backward, turn the edge of the roller channel through the front opening in the door panel and lift the window regulator out through the opening in the door. If you have a convertible, pull away the door trim panel and water dam and then detach the power window wire connector. Take off the five nuts that hold the regulator lift channel to the door glass and then place the door glass at the top of the channel. After that, take out the five nuts that secure the rear part of the stabilizer channel to the door panel and remove the channel. Disconnect the bolts that hold the window regulator base plate to the door's inside panel and then remove the window regulator by pulling it through the hole in the inner door. Finally, get the power window motor out of the regulator. After opening your access hole, place the window regulator and crank housing on the lower door panel, fasten the bolts holding the window regulator, insert the regulator bolt heads into the slots on the panel and tighten the regulator channel and crank housing screw. Place the glass in the channel for the roller, tighten the screws holding the door glass to the roller and mount the door trim panel. On the convertible, the window regulator is attached in the doorway and then you must align the bolt heads onto the corresponding slots before installing the stabilizer channel with nuts. Tighten the roller channel nuts on both ends, bolt the window regulator base plate to the door inner panel and tighten the other bolts as well. Join the five nuts securing the lift channel to the door glass, connect the wire connector to the electric window motor, test the door water seal, adjust the glass if needed and fit the door water dam and trim panel.
