• Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Switch Control Assembly on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

  A: Before starting to service or repair the control assembly, take out the instrument panel center bezel and center air duct. After that, unscrew the A/C-heater control from the instrument panel, take it out and you will be able to access the vacuum harness, control cables and wire harness at the back. Before you disconnect any system, note how the vacuum harness and control cables are arranged for easy replacement. Unplug the vacuum harness and wire harness from the rear of the A/C-heater control and remove the control cables from the mode and temperature control levers. Always attach the vacuum harness to the A/C-heater control when installing it, so that the heating-A/C system does not keep running on Recirculation mode, leading to a loud blower motor and moisture on the windows. Join the vacuum harness, control cables and wire harness to the rear side of the A/C-heater control, set the mode and temperature cables properly, attach the AC-heater control into the instrument panel again and tighten each screw by 2 N.m (17 in.lbs.) Lastly, install the center air duct and the instrument panel center bezel once more.
