2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace Front Seat Belt Assemblies After a Collision on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: A collision always requires the replacement of the front seat belt assembly. When servicing air bag components, first cut the battery cable, then wait two minutes to let the reserve capacitor empty and only then retract the front seat belt and retractor. Take out the covering of the turning loop, the control knob for the shoulder belt height and the bolt that holds the turning loop to the belt adjuster handle. Then, remove the upper bit of trim from the B-pillar, as well as the panel covering the B-pillar and the bolt that holds down the B-pillar's lower end. Remove the clips on both sides of the trim and drive the turning loop and seat belt into the trim panel. Unplug the electrical connector and unscrew the two webbing mid guide screws. Then, get the car's lower B-pillar trim and front seat belt retractor out. While installing seat belts, tighten the bolts with 40 N.m (30 ft.lbs.) torque. Put the front seat belt retractor into place and fix the lower B-pillar trim panel close to the B-pillar. Place the two screws in the webbing mid guide, connect the connector to the wiring harness and insert the seat belt and its being through the trim panel. Guide the locating pins on the rear of the trim panel to the matching holes in the B-pillar and push the clips on the trim panel into the appropriate slots. After this, place the access cover onto the B-pillar trim before installing the seat belt anchors to the floor pan and turning loop to the belt adjuster. Lower the height adjuster all the way, put in the B-pillar trim for the upper part, the shoulder belt knob and finish with the turning loop cover. Don't plug in the negative battery cable just yet.
