Begin by raising and supporting the vehicle, removing the rear tire and wheel and finally removing the rear brake drum. Make the rear parking brake cables longer by locking the adjuster out; then hold the closest front parking brake cable segment with locking pliers before pulling it down behind the second body bracket. Use the 14 mm box end wrench to release the fingers on the right parking brake cable housing, removing it from the body bracket, since you can't use the aircraft type hose clamp as an alternate on this side. Disconnect the brake shoes from the brake backplate, separate the parking brake cable from the parking brake actuator lever and remove the retainer for the parking brake cable housing from the brake support plate by using a 14 mm wrench. Raise the car and take off the tire and brake drum as before and again loosen the rear park brake's cables. Remove the cable from the equalizer by the parking brake cable and press down on the retaining fingers around the cable housing using a 14 mm box end wrench or an aircraft type hose clamp. Take off the brake shoes, disconnect the cable connecting the parking brake lever from the actuator lever and remove the retainer holding the brake housing on the plate. To open fold-in-floor seating, first release the parking brake, lift the vehicle and manually remove the tension from the automatic self-adjusting device. Unplug the equalizer and cable from the routing bracket and if you are servicing the right rear cable, release the clamp screws holding the cable on the rear axle. Take the cable eyelet out of the shoe lever and remove the cable from the brake adapter. Then, over the intermediate bracket, use a 13 mm 12-point box wrench to squeeze the retainer fingers and pull the cable free. For the installation: connect the rear parking brake cable to the brake support plate, so the fingers of the cable housing retainer hold it in place, add the cable to the parking brake actuator lever, set the brake shoes into position and secure the cable housing retainer to the body outrigger bracket. Put the right rear cable onto the middle connector, fix the brake drum and wheel on, take away the tightening tools from the other cable to permit automatic adjustment, lower the car and push and release the park brake pedal to settle the cables. Install the left rear tire using the same steps, with all necessary connections and adjustments.
