2005 Dodge Dakota Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an Ignition Lock Cylinder on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: When removing the ignition lock cylinder, insert the ignition key properly into your key cylinder. First, remove the negative terminal from the battery and remove the upper and lower cover of the steering column. After you put the shifter into PARK, check for a small pin on the side of the key cylinder assembly. Turn the key to where it's labeled RUN, push the retaining pin and remove the key cylinder from the ignition. When you install, fit the key into the key cylinder and make sure the bottom of the cylinder lines up with the ignition switch. Slide the key cylinder until you hear it click, disconnect the handle and replace the upper and lower shrouds with the battery.
