2005 Dodge Dakota Headlight Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Install a Headlight Switch on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: To avoid being hurt by the air bags, first turn off the supplemental restraint system before servicing the headlamp switch. Break the link between the battery's negative terminal and the car battery cable, then give the system two minutes to discharge. First, take off the bezel around the cluster, then disconnect the wire harness from the back of the headlamp switch. Remove the three screws attaching the headlamp switch to the bezel reverse, then take out the switch. Put the headlamp switch behind the cluster bezel as you install and tighten the three screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Secure the wire harness connector to the back of the headlamp switch, install the cluster bezel over the instrument panel and finally attache the negative battery cable.
