2005 Dodge Dakota Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: Are Seat Belts and Child Restraints Key to Ensuring Safety and Preventing Injury on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Test and check all seat belts, buckles, attachment hardware, retractors, tethers and anchors for damage or secure installation before each service; also do this after the service to confirm everything is fixed or safe. Put in new belts for those that are frayed, torn or cut, untwist any bent belts, tighten all loose fasteners and insert new ones whenever the belt has a damaged buckle, retractor, bent latch plate or damaged anchor plate. If you find that any child restraint anchors or units are bent or damaged, replace them. Do not try to repair seat belts or child restraints; always use replacement parts that are new and from the DaimlerChrysler Mopar catalog. For removing the seat, push the right front outboard seat forward to get to the screw holding the front center seat belt anchor. Loosen or take out the screw that fastens the seat belt lower anchor to the center seat support bracket from behind the front seat. Remove the front center seat belt cable from the elastic strap on the side cushion in the front of the front seat. Take out the seat belt and lower anchor through the cutout in the side of the front center seat cushion trim. Remove the trim on the side near the front of the front seat, then insert the end of the front lower anchor through the hole. Insert the front seat belt from the middle down through the end of the elastic band on the side of the center seat cushion. Bring the seat belt lower anchor behind the front seat and clip it in position with the center seat support bracket so the anti-rotation tab fits securely in its hole on the bracket. Screw in and tighten the lower anchor to the middle seat support bracket so the torque reaches 40 N.m (29 ft. lbs.). Then, slide the seat to the right in the front passenger area to its back position.
