2005 Dodge Durango Clock Spring Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Clock Spring Assembly on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: Always take care of your personal safety by disabling the supplemental restraint system on your vehicle as it has air bags before working on the Clock Spring assembly. Cut the battery negative cable and then let the system capacitor get rid of all remaining stored energy for two minutes before proceeding. Turn the steering wheel until the front wheels show they are both pointing straight ahead. Take out the Clock Spring from the steering column and rotate the Clock Spring rotor clockwise, turning it as much as it will go without using large force. From this part of the guide, rotate the rotor two and one-half times counterclockwise, so that the engagement dowel and the yellow rubber boot (7) are at the bottom while the arrows on the Clock Spring rotor and case (9) are lined up. Attach the Clock Spring rotor to the Clock Spring case so it stays in the center, that way, the wheels stay straight during reinstallation.
