2005 Dodge Durango Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Left Exhaust Manifold on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: Before servicing the left exhaust manifold, unplug the negative terminal from the battery and raise the vehicle to reach it. Drop the coupling bolts that fix the exhaust pipe to the engine exhaust manifold and then lower the vehicle. In the next step, disconnect the exhaust heat shields, take out the bolts, nuts and washers and then remove both the manifold and the gasket. If the studs cracked and broke when you removed the old manifold, screw in replacements with sealer on the coarse sides to avoid leaking. Set the engine exhaust manifold and the gasket onto the two cylinder head studs and fit conical washers and nuts onto these same studs. Attach the upper and lower conical washers, preserving their order and tighten all the bolts and nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) at the center before moving toward the outermost parts. Put on the exhaust heat shields again and fasten them tightly but not too much to stop them from getting deformed or damaged. After that, connect the exhaust pipe to the manifold and tighten the bolts, nuts and retainers until you reach 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) of torque.
