2005 Dodge Durango Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Speed Sensor on the Rear Wheel on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: The vehicle should be raised by a hoist before the sensor is serviced or repaired. When using a vehicle with traction control, remove the electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor, unscrew the mounting bolt and take out the sensor from the caliper home adapter. If your model doesn't have traction control, cut the sensor wire cable, take out the brake line nut and brake line, unscrew the sensor from the mounting stud and then release the sensor and shield from the differential case. For setting up traction control, feed the wheel speed sensor into the hole of the brake caliper adapter, mount the sensor bolt, tighten it to 24 Nm (200 inch lbs.), reconnect the connector to the sensor and lower the vehicle. For installation without traction control, attach the O-ring to the sensor if it was taken off, insert the sensor into the differential housing, mount the sensor shield, tighten the bolt that holds the stud to 24 Nm (200 inch lbs.), hook the brake line onto the sensor stud and put on the nut, secure the sensor's wiring to the harness so that the seal is tight between the sensor and wiring connector and finally lower the vehicle.
