2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain Your Washer Pump on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before working on the windshield washer pump, take out and separate the negative battery cable and then elevate and support the car. Pull the liner out of the left front fender wheel house and separate the wire harness from the top of the windshield washer pump. Disconnect the washer hoses after first examining the way they are connected and drain the washer fluid into a clean container so you can reuse it. Don't destroy the reservoir as you remove it. With a trim stick C-4755 or the same type, carefully lift the barbed inlet nipple attached to the pump from the rubber grommet holding it on the reservoir and throw away the grommet. For installation, use clean washer fluid to lubricate a new rubber grommet and then install it into the washer mounting hole on the outboard side of the reservoir. Place the barbed end of the windshield washer pump against the rubber grommet and push so it fits all the way in. Connect the washer hoses to the pump so that the washer does not operate improperly. Attach each of the washer hoses to a barbed outlet nipple on the pump and put the wire harness connector in place on top of the pump. Attach the liner back in the left front fender wheel house, lower the vehicle, add as much washer fluid as you took out and replace the negative battery cable.
