2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Washer Pump on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: To maintain the pump, the first step is to remove and isolate the battery negative cable. Steer the wheel to the left, all the way and raise the vehicle for access underneath. Cut out the plastic tabs holding the left front wheelhouse splash shield to the inner fender panel and front fascia, then pull the shield free to reach the washer pump/motor on the outside of the washer reservoir. Remove the connectors for the pump motor's headlamp and dash harness wiring, remembering how the hoses connect to the pump to let any fluid you drain settle into a clean place. Pull the washer's pump/motor housing outward to release the snap post from the rinse reservoir, then twist and pull the inlet nipple off the rubber grommet seal and discard it. Apply clean washer fluid to the rubber seal and set it into the washer pump hole in the reservoir. Place the washer pump/motor unit pointing into the grommet seal with the barbed inlet up and push it until the inlet sits properly. Put the snap post on the motor housing into the hole in the reservoir and press until you hear it snap together. Twist the hoses from the front and rear sprayers onto the proper outlet nipples at the back of the pump nicely. Combine the headlamp and dash wire harness connector for the unit where the pump and motor are, fit the plastic clips to the batter shield, lower the vehicle and then attach the negative battery cable.
