2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate and Replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on a 3.7L Engine on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: You'll find the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor near the back of the generator, placed inside a water jacket at the front of the intake manifold on the 3.7L engine. Balance the cooling system first by taking out enough coolant so that no hot, dangerous pressure remains when you remove the sensor. Following that, remove the electrical connector from the sensor and take out the sensor from the intake manifold. As you install, put a small amount of thread sealant on each sensor thread and return it to the engine. Attach the sensor to the engine pulley at 11 Nm or 8 ft. lbs. of torque, put the electrical connector back in place and add any engine coolant you lost.
