2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Rear Washer Pump on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before replacing the rear washer pump/motor, cut off the battery negative cable and lift and support your vehicle. Remove the liner next to the left front wheel house and take off its connection with the top of the motor housing on the dash wire harness connector. Take the washer hose off the rear pump's barbed nipple, so the washer fluid drains into a clean container which you can use again for washing the car. With a suitable wide flat-bladed tool, gently loosen the barbed inlet nipple of the washer pump out of the seal in the reservoir, so as not to damage the rubber grooves. Carefully pull out and throw away the rubber seal threaded into the hole of the washer pump in the washer reservoir. While installing, put a rubber grommet seal into the washer pump hole and make sure it is new. Find the grommet in the reservoir, line up the nipple on the washer pump and keep pressing the nipple in until it is fully seated. Bind the washer hose to the barbed fitting on the back of the washer pump and use the red connector to join the left headlight and dash wire to the motor connector on the washer pump. Put the liner back into the left front fender wheel house, lower the vehicle, add the washer fluid from your previous drain and finally link the battery negative cable.
