2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Install the Camshaft Position Sensor on a 3.7L V-6 Engine on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The camshaft position sensor for the 3.7L V-6 engine sits at the top of the right cylinder head. Pull out the electrical connector, then take out the sensor's mounting bolt. Gently unscrew the sensor as it is attached to the cylinder head, then inspect the O-ring on the sensor. When installing, wipe the machined hole in the cylinder head and apply a little engine oil to the sensor O-ring. Place the sensor gently into its hole, twisting it at the same time until the whole sensor touches the surface, then lock it in place by turning the bolt. After that, connect the electrical connector to the sensor again.
