2005 Jeep Wrangler Wiper Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Wiper Switch on 2005 Jeep Wrangler?
A: To maintain the windshield washer switch, connect the negative battery cable after disabling the supplemental restraint system, wait two minutes and then remove your hands from the battery. Extract the cover on the instrument panel where the steering column is, then under the steering wheel, remove the two screws that secure the shroud on the steering column. If your car uses tilt steering, push it down and make sure the tilt release lever is set to released. Take off both shrouds from the steering column and afterwards disconnect the connectors for the left and right multi-function switches on the body wire harness. Take out the screws that hold the multifunction switch assembly onto the upper steering column, then remove it. Then, unscrew the two little screws that hold the right multi-function switch in place, get hold of the control stalk and pull it to the right to unhook the alignment pins. To install, fit the right multi-function switch into the left mounting housing, so that the pins match up and fasten it with two small screws at 2 Nm. Before fitting the multi function switch, set the left stalk switch to neutral in the turn signal position and return the turn signal cancel actuator to its original position. Place the assembly onto the upper steering column housing and tighten two screws to 2 Nm. After that, attach the body wire harness connectors to both multi-function switches and the upper and lower shrouds onto the steering column. From below the steering wheel, link the two lower shrouds together and correctly tighten each screw to 2 Nm. If your car has a tilt steering column, crank it to the extreme upward position and make sure it's secure. After that, fasten the steering column opening cover and link up the battery negative cable.
