2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches Parts and Q&A
Q: What Are A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches and How Do They Function on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before starting to work on the A/C high pressure sensor/switch, make sure to take the negative battery cable out and recover the refrigerant. Support and raise the vehicle, then remove the wire harness connection from the A/C high pressure switch at the rear of the compressor. Using a snap ring plier (C-4574), break the inner link holding the A/C high pressure switch to the compressor, remove the switch and throw out the O-ring seal. Clean any leftover material from the switch mounting bore on the back of the A/C compressor, rub lubricating refrigerant oil on a new rubber O-ring seal and then place it onto the high pressure switch, paying attention to the R-134a O-ring and the proper refrigerant oil for the R-134a compressor. Put the high pressure switch on the rear of the A/C compressor and use your snap ring pliers to place the snap ring that holds the switch. After attaching the wire harness to the A/C high pressure switch, lower the car, attach the negative battery terminal, take out the refrigerant and charge it up again.
