2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Throttle Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Body on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: You should start the throttle body service by taking off the air cleaner lid, disconnecting the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose and then removing the negative battery cable. In case you have one, take off the engine cover or throttle control shield and detach the throttle cable from the throttle body cam before sliding the cable out of the bracket. To remove the speed control cable from a vehicle with speed control, pull on the clasp that anchors it in the hole the throttle lever uses. Then, pull the EVAP purge hose from where it is mounted on the throttle body and remove the power cables from the throttle position sensor and idle air control motor. Go ahead and remove the mounting bracket, the support bracket and the throttle body bolts. Lift the throttle body upward and outward to finish the removal. Attach the electrical connectors to the air control motor and throttle position sensor and remember to have the throttle body gasket in the manifold. Put the throttle body onto the intake and use the bolts to hold it in place but do not tighten them for now. Connect the throttle cable bracket and don't tighten the bolts for now. Strengthen the throttle body bolts to 12 ± 2.25 Nm (105 ± 20 in. lbs.) torque and then do the same with the throttle cable bracket bolts. Put the throttle body purge hose back onto the throttle body nipple, snap the cable housing retainer into the bracket and turn the throttle in forward toward a wide open position to install the cables. Install the throttle control shield, put back on the negative battery cable and finally set the air cleaner lid in place. Ensure you hook up the inlet air temperature sensor and air inlet tube at this point.
