How to Remove and Install a Trunk Lid Latch on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Before anything else, remove and disconnect the negative battery cable and after that, open the liftgate. After that, take out the trim panel from the liftgate and detach the retainer clip holding each linkage rod to the liftgate latch, to separate the links. Take out the wire harness connector from the latch and remove the bolts that hold the latch in place on the liftgate and the latch will then be out. When you install, set the liftgate latch on the liftgate and then bolt it in with the two retaining bolts, tightening them to 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.). Attach the linkage rods to the latch and put in the retainer clips to make sure they are in place. Relate the liftgate wire harness connector to its point on the latch, reassemble the negative battery cable, ensure the liftgate lock cylinder and latch can work correctly and finish up by installing the trim panel.
