The first step in handling the trunk or liftgate latch is to disconnect and isolate the negative cable on the battery. Open the decklid after that. Take out the trim piece around the decklid. Release the clip holding the lock cylinder link to the latch and pull the link apart. Finally, get rid of the two bolts that attach the latch to the decklid and you can pull it out.
