2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Vapor Canister Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Vapor Canister on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Pressure your car's fuel system, pop open the lid of the air cleaner and unplug the inlet air temperature sensor as well as the makeup air hose before servicing the Evaporative Emission Control Canister. Then, take out the negative battery cable, lift and keep the vehicle supported and empty the fuel tank. Eliminate the fuel tank and Evap system next, then take out the push pin and the hoses from the Evap canister. Open the canister and use the spring clips to hold open the side. Turn the canister to empty it away from the bracket tab ring. When putting the shell on, slip the Evap canister over the bracket tabs and slide it back until the spring clips are snapping into position. Feed the push pin through both the Evap canister and the bracket into the fuel tank, replace the hoses and lines and fasten them. Connect the fuel tank and Evap system back up, lower the car and secure the negative battery cable. After that, fasten the air cleaner lid, reattach the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose, fill the fuel tank and use the Drbiii(R) scan tool to increase pressure in the fuel system as you check for any leaks.
