2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wheel Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove and Install a Wheel Cover on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before removing the wheel cover, you should lift the vehicle so that the tire and wheel are suspended. Don't pry the wheel cover off as the cover is bolted to the rim with the wheel mounting nuts. Keep the wheel cover steady while removing the five wheel mounting (lug) nuts from the wheel studs. Make sure the tire and wheel don't fall before carefully removing the wheel cover. Proper installation means making sure you have good phone-to-phone contact to ensure your wheel nuts stay tight, so your safety and handling are not compromised. Don't apply oil or grease to the studs or wheel mounting nuts. Attach the tire and wheel to the hub as though you were installing the nuts, but stop as soon as the wheel is completely on the studs, aligning the valve notch in the wheel cover with the valve stem and fit the rim over the studs. Never use anything besides the original fasteners that come with your car when mounting your wheels. Secure all five wheel nuts for now, without applying any tension, then slowly lower the car. Afterward, adjust each wheel mounting nut firmly by turning it correctly to a final value of 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
