2006 Dodge Dakota Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Install a Camshaft Position Sensor on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: You will find the Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) at the top/front of the right cylinder head. Take out the electrical connector first, then lower the sensor by unfastening the mounting bolt. Loosen the sensor twisting it slightly and inspect the sensor O-ring for any damage. At installation, first clean the inside of the machined hole in the cylinder head and after that add a small amount of engine oil to the sensor O-ring. Set the angle of the sensor and twist it along its hub, being sure to keep it flat against the hole and tighten the bolt of the sensor mounting piece to 12 N.m (106 in.lbs). In the end, link the wire connector to the sensor.
