2006 Dodge Durango Timing Chain Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Assess Timing Chain Wear on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: You need to first take off the timing chain cover to check for chain wear. Turn the engine clockwise until the largest amount of tensioner movement is obtained. The distance between the secondary timing chain tensioner housing and the step ledge on the piston should be less than 15 mm (0.5906 inches). When the taper diameter lies outside these tolerances, the secondary timing chains are worn and should be replaced.
