2006 Dodge Stratus Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install and Replace a Camshaft Position Sensor on 2006 Dodge Stratus?
A: The sensor is fixed at the end of the top of the cylinder head. Move by taking out the negative battery cable and freeing the PCV hose so you can relocate it, if needed. Following this, disconnect the electrical cable from the camshaft position sensor and remove the mounting screws to take out the part. After that, slip the screw loose that holds the target magnet to the back of the camshaft and remove it. Align the target magnet with the locating dowels in the machined holes at the end of the camshaft, fasten it using the supplied 3 N.m (30 in. lbs.) torque using the mounting screw and remember not to over-tighten to avoid cracking the magnet. Replace the camshaft position sensor, then tighten its mounting screws to 13 N.m (115 in. lbs.). When connecting the electric connector to the camshaft position sensor, make sure it is flat to not injure the sensor pins and avoid any damage. Lastly, put the PCV Valve hose back into place and connect the negative battery cable.
