2006 Jeep Commander Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose from the Gear to the Pump on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: Raise the level of fluid in the gear by opening the reservoir valve and give it time to drain. First, separate the pressure line at each end-the pump and the gear-then take out the brackets holding the pressure line at the engine cradle. After the first line is taken out, place the new line and connect it to the engine cradle with the three brackets. Join the power steering pressure line to the power steering gear again, making sure it's tightened to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Then do the same at the power steering pump, where the connection should also be tightened to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Lastly, add more power steering fluid and bleed the system to make certain everything works well.
