2006 Jeep Commander Power Steering Cooler Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Power Steering Cooler on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: You must start by emptying the power steering fluid from the reservoir to service the cooler. Get rid of the hood weather-strip seal located at the radiator cowl and then remove all 6 screws around the grille. Disconnect both sides of the reservoir return hose, one from the cooler and one from the return line at the steering gear. pulling the cooler from the snap-in brackets on the air conditioning condenser and removing it with its hoses from the car. To set up the power steering cooler, fit the hoses in, secure it onto the a/c condenser and fit it back into the vehicle. Join the steering gear return line between the gear and the cooler and also join the reservoir return hose between the cooler and the reservoir. Replace the power steering fluid and bleed the system and then turn on the engine to examine the car for leaks. After that, place the grille back on the car and secure it with the 6 push pins, as well as the hood weather-strip seal at the radiator cowl.
