2006 Jeep Commander Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain Your Steering Wheel on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: You need to first disable and eliminate the drivers side air bag before servicing the steering wheel. Loosen and take out every electrical connection. Leave the bolt in place as you turn it out in the column and attach a puller to the top of the bolt, pushing to make sure it's securely threaded into the steering wheel. Uninstall the steering wheel, secure the new one to the column with a new bolt and don't try to use the previous bolt again. You must secure the steering wheel mounting bolt to the right torque which should be 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs). Hook up all electrical links once more and then place the drivers side air bag in place.
