2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install the Camshaft Position Sensor on the Right Cylinder Head on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: You will find the Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) bolted on top or front of the right cylinder head. Disconnect the electrical connector at the CMP sensor, then remove the mounting bolt to take out the sensor. Turn the sensor in the cylinder head gently and inspect the shape of the sensor O-ring. Clean the machined hole in the cylinder head and touch a bit of engine oil to the outside of the sensor O-ring when installing. With the sensor slightly cocked and twisted in place, ensure it touches the cylinder head all the way round, then tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 in.lbs.). After that, hook up the sensor's electrical connector.
