2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate and Replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on a 3.7L Engine on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The ECT sensor is placed inside a water jacket situated close to the rear of the generator and ahead of the intake manifold. Always drain a bit of the coolant before removing the sensor, so you don't get hurt by hot coolant under pressure. After that, separate the electrical connector from the sensor and take out the sensor from the intake manifold. When setting up the sensor, apply some thread sealant to the threads and put it back into the engine, tightening with 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.) torque. After that, secure the electrical connector to the sensor and fill the engine back up with coolant.
