2006 Jeep Liberty Clutch Slave Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How is the Clutch Slave Cylinder Serviced Alongside the Master Cylinder and Connecting Line on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: All of the clutch system's components-the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and connecting line-are serviced by removal and reassembly because the linkages cannot be serviced by themselves. Place the car on a hoist with it in neutral and then take out slave cylinder 1 from inside the clutch. Disconnect the clutch fluid line from the body clips if they are attached. Make sure the clutch master cylinder is below your seat and don't forget to close the lid before you undo the nuts holding the cylinder in place. Remove the actuator 4 from the pivot pin 3 on the pedal arm and untie the wires 5 of the clutch interlock safety switch. Take out the hydraulic linkage in the engine compartment. After tightening the reservoir cap on the master cylinder, install the clutch linkage parts in the vehicle, lower the connecting line and slave cylinder downward, past the engine and close to the clutch housing. Place clutch master cylinder 1 on the dash panel, connect clutch master cylinder actuator 4 to pivot pin 3 on the clutch pedal and screw in the clutch master cylinder nuts with 38 Nm (28 ft. lbs.) of torque. Elevate the vehicle and fit the push rod from the slave cylinder through the shaft's opening into its release lever. Put the master cylinder slave cylinder nuts in place and tighten them to 23 Nm (17 ft lbs.), then clip the clutch fluid line between the body and the transmission and finally connect the clutch interlock safety switch wires.
