2006 Jeep Liberty Door Latch Assembly Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Door Latch Assembly on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: You should first remove the waterdam before attempting service or repair of the rear door latch. Remove the rod from bell crank and the rod from the outside handle. Screw the panel back in place and then pull the latch assembly out and detach the electrical connectors. Installation involves connecting the latch electrical connectors and installing the latch assembly in the door with screws tightened down to a force of 11 N.m (95 in.lbs.). Attach the rod of the handle on the outside door to the bell crank, the lock knob rod together and also attach the inside handle rod when putting the trim panel back on. In the end, set up or reinstall the waterdam and adjust the latch based on your needs.
