2006 Jeep Liberty Throttle Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Throttle Cable on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: First, press the accelerator pedal up and pull the retainer (3) in addition to the core wire out of the upper end of the pedal, so you can take out the cable and linkage. Afterward, divide the cable core wire from the pedal arm and take out the small metal clip (1) that holds the cable to the dash panel. Take off the air box from around the throttle body and release the cable from inside the dash routing clip. Get the housing of the cable out of the dash panel and into the engine compartment. With the motorcycle in wide open throttle, move the throttle cable pin away from its connection on the throttle body bellcrank. With a small screwdriver or pick, press the release tab (2) only a bit until the plastic mount (4) comes away from the bracket and slide it towards the right side of the vehicle to remove the throttle cable. Simply push the plastic mount (4) for the accelerator cable into the throttle body mounting bracket until the release tab (2) is lined up with the hole in the bracket. With the throttle wide open, slide the pin (1) of your throttle cable into the throttle body bellcrank (2). Using your finger or a screwdriver, insert the cable housing into the rubber grommet, put the cable through the dash opening and clip (1) the cable to the mounting panel on the dashboard. Place the core wire of the throttle inside the pedal arm opening, then isolate the cable out so it tightens the wire. Next, attach the air box to the throttle body and test the accelerator pedal to confirm there's no binding before the car is turned on.
