How to Service an Oxygen Sensor on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?

It is necessary to let the engine cool down first before servicing the oxygen sensor, as its related parts get very heated during normal driving. Start by lifting and holding the vehicle, then detach the wire connector from the O2S sensor with care not to pull on the wire directly. Employ an oxygen sensor removal and installation tool to take out the sensor and clean the exhaust pipe threads using the proper sized tap. Since the O2S sensor threads are coated at the factory, do not apply any more anti-seize compound when installing it. Fasten the O2S sensor and make sure the torque is 30 N.m (22 ft. lbs.), then attach the O2S sensor wire and bring the vehicle back to the ground.
