2006 Jeep Wrangler Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and Remove a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: The first step is to remove the screws holding in place the throttle position sensor (TPS) once the electrical connector is removed. When installing, put the throttle shaft of the throttle body into a socket in the TPS and allow the TPS to turn a little bit; if it doesn't turn, put the TPS with the throttle shaft on the opposite side of the socket tangs as the sensor will be somewhat taut when turned. When done installing the TPS and retaining screws, tighten the screws to 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.) torque, connect the TPS electrical connector and move the throttle by hand to see that it is not binding before you start the engine. The next step is to connect the air cleaner tube to the throttle body.
