2006 Jeep Wrangler Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair a Rear Seat Belt and Retractor on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Always make sure to look at each seat belt, buckle, mounting hardware and retractor after any service to confirm they are correctly fitted and working properly. Do not keep or use belts that are cut, torn, frayed, twisted, have damaged buckles or retractors, battered latch plates or anchor plates or have loose fasteners. Never try to fix a seat belt part; always purchase and install correct, unused and new ones from the Mopar Parts Catalog. Slide the rear seat belt buckles between the cushion and back of the seat toward the trunk area, lift the lever on the seat to fold it forward and tumble that unit so that it rests against the backs of the front bucket seats. Get rid of the screw holding the lower anchor plate for the rear seat shoulder belt to the wheel house panel, then pull the anchor plate out. Put in the reverse position, press the rear shoulder belt turning loop cover to unsnap it and remove the screw that holds the anchor plate to the sport bar, afterwards taking the anchor plate away. Subsequently, take out the screw fastening the retractor to the sport bar near the top of the rear wheel house and remove the rear seat shoulder belt and retractor from the bar. To install the rear seat shoulder belt, fit the retractor through the clip shown on the sport bar at the top of the inner rear wheel house panel. Bolt and torque down the retractor screw to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.) and do the same for the screw in the plate where you will fasten the root part of the rear shoulder belt. Fold the shoulder belt turning loop cover back in its original place, place the rear seat shoulder belt lower anchor plate on the inner rear wheel house panel and tighten the screw to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). With the seat folded, tip the folded cushion and the back unit back onto the rear floor, feed both buckle levers between the cushion and the back and pull the rear seat back up from the cushion until the latch clicks into place.
