2007 Chrysler Crossfire Crankshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Crankshaft on 2007 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: First, remove the upper oil pan, the oil pump, the seal on the rear radial of the crankshaft and then pull out the timing chain, without twisting the connecting rods as the crankshaft turns. To identify the parts, mark one side of the connecting rod and connecting rod bearing cap with a name or logo. Following this, eliminate the bolts that secure the connecting rod, ensuring the connecting rod bearings don't fall out and unfasten the connecting rod caps while they are still attached to the bearings. Take out the connecting rods so they do not touch the crankshaft and before removing the bearing caps, mark them on the crankshaft. Place the engine on a stand, pry out the bearing caps, then remove the bolts from the crankshaft journal cap side and discard the bolts. Following that, remove the left-over crankshaft main bearing journal cap bolts and take out the crankshaft from the engine block. Early in the teardown, remove the crankshaft main bearing shells and thrust washers from inside the crankcase and take off the main bearing shells from the crankshaft main bearing journal caps.
