It is important to ensure the coolant temperature is less than 90°C before servicing or repairing the heater control valve. Before you open the cooling system, place the radiator cap on the reservoir and rotate it, while wearing gloves and goggles, to let go of the pressure slowly. After that, undo the top screw holding the heat shield and take out the heat shield. Turn the hot water hoses off, loosen the hose clamps and take away the heater water hose. Remove the connector from the coolant circulation valve, take off the rubber mounts at the body sides and finally disconnect the valve.
