2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Drum Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Prepare for Brake Drum Installation on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Assess your brake shoe linings for any signs of wearing, being misaligned or carrying dirt before attaching the brake drum. Whenever rust or other foreign materials are found on the hub, drum or wheel mating surfaces, take a wet wire brush and remove them prior to putting things together. Take care to remove any accumulated substance from the outer edge of the machined braking surface. Use a brake shoe gauge to make sure the brake shoes' diameter matches the drum's size. Slide the brake drum (6) over the wheel mounting studs on the hub and bearing (7). First, install the tire and wheel assembly (1), then put in and tighten the wheel mounting nuts (3) to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Lower the vehicle, test it on the road, stopping in various directions and let the automatic-adjuster finish adjusting the brakes as you do the test.
