2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace the Control Arm on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Start by raising and propping up the vehicle and then unfasten the wheel mounting nuts as well as the tire and wheel. On both sides, separate the stabilizer bar link assemblies by holding the upper retainer/nut in place and spinning the link bolt with a wrench. To get access to the forward ends of the stabilizer bar, unbolt the retainer and turn the ends downward. Untighten the nut and clamp holding the ball joint stud to the knuckle; do not pull outward on the knuckle to avoid harming the inner C/V joint. Use a prying tool to lift the stud out of the upper control arm as you push the ball joint boss upwards on the knuckle. Be careful to select the proper lower control arm. Once you have, remove the splash shield fastener and any holding fasteners for the front fascia to get to the forward fastener on the drive belt splash shield. Then, release the fastener that secures the splash shield to the front suspension, take out the fasteners attaching the shield to the body and lastly remove the drive belt splash shield itself. Remove all the mounting nuts, the pencil strut at the front right corner of the crossmember and body and the washer put on the torque strut bolt. Unscrew the mounting bolt joining the strut to the engine, unscrew the second strut bolt at the crossmember and take out the engine torque strut. First, eliminate the front lower control arm bolt from the front crossmember, then switch to the rear bolt securing the lower control arm to the frame rail and crossmember and finally take the lower control arm out of the crossmember.
